A Community Focus in Quilpie
Playscape Creations were contacted by Monica James, Community Services Manager at Quilpie Shire Council to provide Skatepark options to enhance the main park in town and to provide recreational opportunities for the older children.
Playscape Creations are committed to working with beautiful small country towns like Quilpie that are often neglected by many other suppliers/services. We care about these local communities and love the community spirit in these local towns.
The Quilpie community over recent years have invested in upgrading their main public park to offer opportunities to the local community. Through our design process we identified the final position of the future skatepark strategically to complement the existing park layout which already consisted of a playground, fitness equipment, shelters, BBQs and amenities.
Now with the addition of the Skatewave skatepark, it has truly become a multi-generational recreational space, useable for all members of the community.
Bikes and scooters are the main mode of transport for the local kids and bearing this in mind we specifically designed the skatepark to accommodate this user group. The design also took into consideration varying levels of rider experience and was designed to offer beginner, intermediate and advanced experiences.
“Skatewave” is the market leader in modular skatepark systems. Modularity equals greatly flexibility in that if the demographics of local communities change, urban planning changes or an expansion to the skatepark is required, the modular Skatewave system can be relocated or expanded on.

Playscape Creations also supported the Grand opening where all of the community gathered to open this great facility. A sausage sizzle was put on by the local day care centre and the kids also appreciated the caps, beanies, T-shirts, key rings and pens donated by PSC and handed out by the local police and council staff.
